DoD Technology and Chemicals
Vast experience working with DoD agencies such as the Army, the Navy and
the Air Force is now part of the technology that DTCS has to offer. Innovated synthetic methods were developed
to prepare an impressive list of energetic polynitro compounds. These
materials are used in munitions, explosives and propellants. At present, state-of-the-art, new and improved technologies to
prepare next-generation energetic chemicals are being developed. DTCS is now
developing advanced synthetic methods to
prepare these types of materials.

NITROPLASTICIZER
Bis(2,2-Dinitropropyl)Acetal/Formal BDNPA/BDNPF
BDNPA/F (A/F) is a propellant and explosive binder component, which is
cost effective to use, and safe to handle. It provides excellent
propellant and explosive formulation physical properties, enhances the
performance of the formulation while providing additional energy to the
system. Since 1960, more than 3 million pounds of A/F have been
delivered and used in DoD application.
A/F was initially used as the plasticizer in the Polaris Fleet Ballistic Missile
system. It delivered excellent performance as well as demonstrating remarkably
good long-term stability. It was used in both US and British systems such as in
US Navy underwater and airburst plastic bonded explosive formulations. It
remains in service today in warheads for torpedoes, missiles and projectiles.
Most recent applications of this material has been for use in low vulnerability
gun propellant (LOVA), insensitive high explosives (IHE) and insensitive
munitions (IM), all used and currently fielded by the US Army. Other
formulations for these items have been developed by, and are in service by
foreign militaries.
Although energetic in nature, A/F meets all DOT-TB-700-2 shipping requirements
and can be transported by normal means as a non-explosive. It is considered by
DOT, for shipping purposes, to be an unregulated substance (NOS). DTCS
regularly ships orders for this material by commercial airfreight all over the
world. Because the material is listed on the US State Department Munitions
Control List, an export license that is issued by the US Department of State is
first required before the material can be sold to foreign customers. DTCS has
experience in the licensing process.
DTCS has an existing inventory of about 90,000 pounds of A/F that can be offered
for immediate shipment. DTCS also has extensive production and process
knowledge, spanning over 40 years, which could be licensed to an approved party
wishing to establish it's own production capability. In this regard, only
US
Department of State approved companies will be considered for transfer of the
manufacturing technology.
